Beijing-Tianjin intercity railway records 250 million in passenger volume in 10 years


  August 1, 2018 marked the 10-year anniversary for the operation commencement of Beijing-Tianjin intercity railway. In a span of a decade, the line recorded 250 million in passenger-time, fueling the coordinated development and the socionomic progress of the two cities. On August 1, all trains running between Beijing and Tianjin have been replaced with “Fuxing”, the China-standard EMU trains in the pursuit for better riding experience for passengers.

  As China’s first high speed line with a design speed of 350km/h, Beijing-Tianjin Intercity line - since the beginning of its operation - was honored with many visits from the leaders of the CPC and the state who all praised the construction and the operation performance. In visiting China, high ranking foreign officials took the ride of this intercity line as a must-do experience to feel the “speed of China”. In the past ten years, the line has welcomed over 300 political figures from 65 countries, as well as over 200 delegations of international organizations recording 5,000 in person-time.

  For 10 years, the intercity line has maintained its outstanding safety performance, and yielded both fast growth in passenger volume and huge progress in social results, realizing the goal of “safety, convenience, personalized servicez and better riding experience”. It now stands as the poster project that showcases the achievements and the operation quality of China’s HSR, as well as an important contributor to the Chinese dream to rejuvenate the Chinese nation.

  The number of train pairs serving the intercity line experienced several rounds of increase from just 47 to 108.5, up by 126.6%, making the line the preferable choice for commuter passengers.

  Boasting the transport organization mode with large traffic volume, high density and mass transit operation, Beijing-Tianjin intercity high-speed railway provides passengers with fast, safe, convenient and comfortable transport service. 30-odd-minutes travelling time shortens the distance and the traveling time between the two cities, greatly changing the work and life concepts of the people. Consequently, the mode of working in Beijing while living in Tianjin becomes a priority choice for the young people.     

  With Beijing-Tianjin intercity railway as a start, Beijing-Shanghai, Beijing-Guangzhou, Tianjin-Qinhuangdao, Shijiazhuang-Jinan high-speed railways connect to be a network and form a half-an-hour to one-hour “HSR economic circle”, which provides transport guarantee for the coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei province.

  Over the past decade, the departure and arrival trains of CHINA RAILWAY Beijing Group Co., Ltd. account for 58.2% of total regular trains in 2018 from the original 43.3%. The number of passengers originated stands at 900 million, and passengers’ travel experience become increasingly better.
