First Year of Fuxing EMU Train Service Sets Record 41.3m Passengers


  June 26, 2018 marked the anniversary of Fuxing EMU train service, the first year of which registered a total ridership of 41.3 million, and the highest daily ridership during the year amounted to 97.6%. Over the year, the HS train service has won the favor of the vast number of passengers with its safe, fast, smooth, comfortable and high quality operation service. The brand Fuxing the EMU train has been deeply rooted in the hearts of people, whose satisfaction has been on the increase.

  New benchmarks have been set up for the business operation of the world's high speed rail. On September 21, 2017, 7 pairs of “Fuxing” EMU train took the lead in commercial operation at the speed of 350 kilometers per hour on the Beijing-Shanghai High-speed Railway. The operation time between Beijing and Shanghai was reduced to about 4.5 hours, setting a new and high bar for the commercial operation of the world high speed railway. Over the past year, the "Fuxing" EMU train on Beijing-Shanghai High-speed Railway has attracted a large number of passenger flows with its shorter travel time and better service, registered an average ridership of 94%, 17.5 percentage points higher than other passenger trains in the same section, and 98.7% and 94% of originating and arriving punctuality respectively. The service not only enhanced travel efficiency, but also improved travel experience and played an active role in promoting the economic and social development along the railway. It generated huge economic and comprehensive social benefits. More and more Fuxing EMU trains are running across the country. Railway department is gradually expanding the operation range of Fuxing in the principle of overall and scientific planning and coordination to fulfill the public needs of quality transport and people’s aspiration of having Fuxing in their hometowns. In the recent year, Fuxing EMU trains start running on Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and Yangtze River Delta region based on their production schedule, and they become quite popular, even over-demanded. This year, railway department took the opportunity of the spring festival when the Train Working Diagram (TWD) shall be adjusted to operate more Fuxing EMU trains in the area of Taiyuan, Xi’an, Chengdu, Shenyang, Kunming, Xiamen, Hefei, Shenzhen and Lanzhou. With the new TWD implemented from July 1, the total number of Fuxing EMU trains running on national railway network will reach 170.5 pairs from current 114.5 pairs, covering 23 cities.

  Passengers approve the service quality of railway transport. Service quality keep improving as more Fuxing EMU trains are put into service: online food ordering, intelligent guidance at station, transfer service, WeChat Pay, online seat selection and bonus for regular passenger. The operation management experience of Fuxing EMU trains on Beijing-Shanghai HSR is promoted to standardize the services of Fuxing trains on national railway network, including service identity, promotional materials, advertisement, spare parts and ticket examination; the service procedure is also enhanced by relevant operators and a series of new services are provided, such as service for special passenger, bilingual broadcast, supply of common travel accessories. Besides, Beijing-Shanghai HSR initiated the “express delivery” service, realizing the fastest door-to-door delivery of 10 hours between Beijing and Shanghai. In the recent year, the improved and diversified services dramatically enhance the sense of fulfillment of passengers and receive big applause from the public.

  The Fuxing family will have new members. Railway department is actively organizing manufacturers, research institutes and colleges to conduct EMU technical innovation to develop independently a series of China standard EMU trains for different speed levels and environments to meet the requirements of the market and provide more options for passengers. The 16-car formation Fuxing EMU train will make its maiden running on July 1, 2018 on Beijing-Shanghai HSR, then on Beijing-Guangzhou HSR and Shanghai-Kunming HSR in succession. The intelligent Fuxing with speed of 350km/h is under development, its sample train will be manufactured and assembled in the end of 2018 and the commissioning and test verification will be finished in the first half of 2019; the 250km/h Fuxing EMU has entered the stage of working design and trail manufacture and is expected to have its sample train manufactured this year; the 160km/h Fuxing EMU with concentrated power is receiving type test, which means one more step towards its batch production. The development of the Fuxing EMU family is in favor of fulfilling people’s aspiration for better travel experience, keeping China the leader in the world’s EMU technology and building the brand of China railway and boosting the development of China high speed railways.
