The National Railway Exhibition in 1951

In September 1951, model railway workers from all over China gathered in Beijing with joy and excitement to attend the National Congress of Model Railway Workers, the first such congress since 1949 when the People's Republic of China was established.

In coordination with the meeting, the Ministry of Railways held the National Railway Exhibition featuring the remarkable achievements in railway construction. The Exhibition took place in the Working People's Cultural Palace which served as the Imperial Ancestral Temple in Ming and Qing Dynasty. With rich content, clear structure, various means of display, advanced technology and vivid exhibits, the Exhibition was more ornamental, novel and interactive than other exhibitions at the time.
